Wristscan - starting 18th September: Your favourite watch metal?

Sep 18, 2014,07:32 AM

What is your favourite watch metal?

Originally, it was suggested by Art that the theme should be your favourite "precious" metal. However, given i typically inhabit a forum where prices of steel regularly fetch far more than platinum or gold, I feel justified in including steel as a part of the gang! The question is, what IS your favourite metal? Different metals, to me, fulfil different criteria. I would have some difficulty wearing my Rolex steel to a black tie event....its just how I feel. On the other hand, if i was in a business meeting, I would not want to wear anything overtly expensive and yellow or rose gold sometimes can look that way. So, as a general rule, I go coloured gold for evening and events and white metal for the majority of the time.

Across the rainbow of metals we have steel amagnetic, white gold world time, platinum chromo, yellow gold vintage JLC, rose gold Reverso and of course the titanium Panerai. Across this rainbow there is a watch for pretty much every occasion.

But what is my favourite metal?

No question....STEEL...1665 Rail in this one.

Hi Baron, I feel the steel fraction will be a strong one this week. I am part of them: Steel is the most versatile metal for me. It is unobtrusive (no bling effect). It is scratch-resistant. It has a clean, "technical" radiation. For more festive events I...

I share your point of view, Baron. But I would say that Tantalum is my fav metal.

 By: amanico : September 19th, 2014-01:27
I don't havy any tantalum Watch in my collection, since my PAM 192 has gone, but I am very tempted to hunt another one ( not necessarily a Panerai, to say all ). The density, the color of this metal captivates me a lot! Best, Nicolas

Ok I was overruled with the responses
