 By: Dr No : March 14th, 2015-07:14
. . . here's a better pic . . . . . . taken at sundown several days ago. Funny about pool: I gave it up (of necessity) around the time of Carter's presidency, and didn't take it back up until late in Obama's first term, a decades-long gap. Give it a try, ...

You'll have to tell me where so I can sneak out and meet you there, Art.

 By: crown comfort : March 12th, 2015-15:19
Well, collecting is a wide field, some are dangerous territory, others great inspiration and fun. I think watches are a very collectible compared to: classic cars (the space issue!) records (I stopped that, as I really want to listen to music rather than ...

That's an amazing collection...

Thanks Nilo....

 By: shipkeeper : March 12th, 2015-17:17
.....Some of our collectibles show how old I am. These sextant I use for 15 years....LOL All the Best Juan

Years ago I was trying to purchase a sextant for the boat.

 By: carl : March 13th, 2015-07:28
I fancied a vintage one. It was only then that I found out they were seriously collectable as I was repeatedly seriously out bid. Out of frustration I ended up purchasing a new Weems and Plath. A nice sextant - rarely used....

My friend the new sextants have better optics than the old.

 By: shipkeeper : March 14th, 2015-17:31
A sextant would be used only if everything fails (electronic aids) at Sea and you have no coastal reference!! But not only the sextant you need also need a chronometer, chronograph, almanac , calculation table and a general nautical chart.....and consider...

Being a sailor I'm a firm believer that if anything can fail it will.

 By: carl : March 14th, 2015-18:37
Marine technology has change significantly in the last 20 years. However I don\'t think my old Loran system is ever going to be collectable. On a side note seeing the the night sky in the Southern Hemisphere for the first time was quite jarring. You reall...

Therefore sailing is an art,  not a science.

 By: pplater : March 13th, 2015-05:31
At first blush this was going to be a great opportunity to whip out the camera and take photos of all sorts of things. The trouble with OCD tendencies, however, is that life is just one big collecting phase. Children, cars, art, rugs, pens, books, teapots...

"....skulls" !!!???

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : March 13th, 2015-05:39
a) do we have to know something b) that first picture went right through my skull :) :) Yours D

My favorite kind of story ;)

Ties !!!

 By: nilomis : March 13th, 2015-06:26
I only have one! Skulls??? Show to us, please. Cheers, Nilo

That was a particular section...

 By: pplater : March 13th, 2015-08:38
...of the tie collection, Nilo. You're probably thinking 'yeah, the bad taste section!', but those ties all have one particular thing in common. Let's see if Damjan - the man from the land of the tie - gets it. As for the skulls: another time, certainly. ...

Master Pplater, if I learned one thing here is ....
