Prices are going up

Feb 02, 2015,06:28 AM

I was told by two different dealers in Milan last week that prices are set to go up by about 5% as of Feb 1 (yesterday!) and again by another 5% in April. We talked about the Swiss Franc and he expects a total of about 10% increase overall as a result. Not good, but not the end of times either. And this was for Euro zone.

I would expect a similar increase for American AD's.

BUT the weakening Euro versus the dollar means that this difference and more can be made up by simply buying watches in Europe with Euros rather than dollars. It really is a great time to buy right now.

We know the CHF became more or less 15 to 20 % more expensive. I believe Rolex dealers get a delivery every month, prices in CHF will stay the same but our dealers will have to pay about 20% more ( in euro) Will watches increase with 15 or 20% within a fe...

you mean these hyper inflated rolexes ?

:-) the market where people tend the to pay more if the condition is worse ? 'spider dials', cracked plexy, brown luminova, misprints, red inc is more valuable than white inc, etc Or Panerai watches with rotten dials and hands that are worth more than a P...

Spider dials are very cheap. So, no worries. And there is a world outside vintage Rolex

But you already know that, of course. Look at some Vintage Tissot, such as the fabulous Chrono 33.3, a bargain, compared to the price of a modern Watch. Same for Lemania. Longines has some great offers in the vintage world. Eberhard, also. You know, all t...

I suppose the true effects will be clear..next week..

"4K extra is quite a lot, isn't it"...

well, if one can afford to pay €20,000 for a watch, it's really not so much.

. . . but, if told . . .

. . . an out-of-warranty service on a 'new' watch is 4K, that same person would have an apoplectic fit. :-)

True! And just wait until...

the day some collectors of very expensive independent watches are informed that the creator(s) are no longer available to service them. Ouch!

can't agree

I put every eurocent I have in this passion, I know I'm mad If I could afford a 20K watch I'm not sure I would like to add an extra 4K

PP was gonna cut price on some

of the models in HK, due to slow sales, now they probably not going to.

this is the first time

that I hear that Patek would lower prices, I find it very hard to believe They just can't make them cheaper in a specific place because they don't sell like they used to, the rest of the world (dealers) would not accept this

Guess you didn't know

They already lowered once last year in HK, this is the second time the distributor announced they will lower the price yet again (in Feb.), except Swiss central bank dropped the bomb, so now the distributor might have an excuse not to lower. The HK Patek ...

A few things: -Patek HK distributor raised the price 3 times in 2011 with a total of 33%, a lot of people were upset -It's only on selected models (but popular models), not a across the board price cut. But the supposed price cut was before the Swiss cent...

I thought Patek prices were more or less the same in every country

Or is HK always more expensive than the rest ?

It would not surprise me

as to retain the profit they will have to raise prices.

It is good to see that the Swiss Franc is now trading at a more respectable level and is only 10% different from when it was just before the peg to the Euro was lifted. I am UK based and I understand that Patek will not be increasing prices in the UK for ...
