a pity that it takes...

.... a post on a watch forum to get an positive response.  An 8 month wait for service on a non- vintage/antique watch is ridiculous.  To not call you to inform you of the pending delay is just not a reasonable level of customer service for an exclusive, luxury product.

I've had better luck here in Hong Kong with Richmont.   I just recently had my VC Overseas Chronometer serviced and it was finished in a bit over 2 months and their team was an absolute pleasure to work with.  I certainly hope that I do not experience a poor level of service when it comes time to service my VC Overseas Chronograph and my JLC Reverso.  That kind of experience would sour me enough on the Richmont Group to look elsewhere for my future watch purchases.  As it stands, I will never buy another IWC watch because of poor customer service in the past.
