Panerai was a business that made instruments for
the Italian Marina Militare (Naval Army), and the watch we know was for military use only and It was a "militay secret" until 1993 (I believe) when they start to sell it, with big success, as we all know now. Now they made in Swiss for a number of reasons, including (I think) marketing reasons.
