Happy birthday!

Apr 09, 2016,18:31 PM

Hope you continue to enjoy your 5070. I certainly understand the charm and coolness of it. It is one that I would like to add my collection when I source the right one.

The 5960/A with a strap IMHO does make it more interesting and appealing. Not sure I would choose it over a 5960P gray or blue dial with the right strap.

16th of March 2010 / 16th of March 2016: My Patek 5070 6th birthday.

 By: amanico : April 2nd, 2016-16:06
Irony of Fate... When I bought the Patek 5070 six years ago, I was quite happy and proud to have built a nice collection of modern Chronographs, as I already owned the Vacheron Les Historiques Chronograph salmon dial / platinum case, the Jaeger Lecoultre ...

Classic !

Very very nice piece ! Manual Winding Chronograph is pure class

Super cool 5070G. Great story, very enjoyable read! Sorry to read about your losses but a black duom would fit well I sense.

As for The 5960A I am also a big fan. Still struggle to make a move on it as I am so very fond of my 5960P. Yes one can not have too many but truth is there are so many fish in the pond and only so much bait in my pocket and only one wrist to wear with. M...

Hey, the "effort" is not a big issue

and the bracelet can easily be changed to a well fitting strap. For many months I have not been wearing anything as much as my 5960A. The strap is now close to perfection but I just ordered a new one where the stitching will go a bit closer to the case. T...

Was hoping I could avoid your comments on this issue:) Do not need convincing how great it looks and wears!

 By: keks : April 3rd, 2016-00:53
Yours look truly amazing with the strap. I am in the process however of convincing myself that I should not have this watch... Not easy process I must admit. If it was only swim proof would have gone for it some time ago as it looks like a perfect summer ...

The purchase of this watch was a semi-accident

 By: dr.kol : April 3rd, 2016-01:47
because I did not like the bracelet. But then I realised how to put in into strap. Now I'm enjoying the last snow (1 meter) some 250 km north of the Polar Circle. The sun is shining and today we are enjoying our 5-years anniversary dinner. Tomorrow mornin...

Happy 5th anniversary!

Sounds like a great way to spend it. Not been that far north yet but hope to one day find a way to make it in the near future. A project to plan for next Easter perhaps. Arctic char surely makes for great dinner!

Easter time in Lapland is the best!

 By: dr.kol : April 3rd, 2016-07:23
And (even) in the Swedish side there are some nice lakes with arctic char. That as a starter and snow grouse as main=heaven. Mvh, Kari

Sounds like a feast

You have inspired me to try to find a way up north next spring. Quite possibly to the Swedish side . Time to start planning what to wear on the wrist for that adventure...

Try the darkest period of the year -

around Xmas and New Year. That's stunning and the little light there is - it is really out of this world. Best, Kari

I strongly dislike the bracelet of the 5960A, but I know it can be moved, and I already know which strap I would put on...

 By: amanico : April 2nd, 2016-23:44
If I get one, one day... Best, and thanks for your kind words, keks.

Duometre a Chronographe first, indeed. But I don't give up with the idea to own a 5960A.

It is just a matter of priorities. Best, Nicolas

So we can assume that you are still totally smitten by this piece and it will not be leaving your collection any time soon The centre stone of any collection Julian

I feel you saved the best of your fab 4.

 By: geross : April 2nd, 2016-20:43
Thats the way life goes. First thought of buying only 1 calatrava then another. Well this can get addicting. The only watch i sold so far is a russian poljot to an employee of mine. Could not stand it sitting on my wrist. A symbol of communism. The politi...

Well, I don't consider the 5070 as the best Chronograph.

 By: amanico : April 3rd, 2016-00:00
To me, the JLC Duometre is certainly the most original and innovative, the Lange Dato has a higher level of decoration, such as the Montlblanc 1858 Tachymeter, but the Patek 5070 certainly is the coolest manual winding chronograph among these 4. Best, Ger...

Happy birthday!

Great watch to have and sure you will do the PP thing in this case and pass it on to your daughter May it continue to bring happiness whenever you wear it!

Happy 6th birthday Nicolas

I enjoy very much your "birthday" or "purchase experience" (the 5110P for instance). Always interesting to see what owners may see in a model and what made them choose this or that watch. I could play very recently with a fellow friend's 5070G and came ba...

I like this chronograph . You had a really nice bunch of fine one

Thanks, grandcomplication. As for the 5960A, don't get me wrong. I learned to appreciate the 5960.

 By: amanico : April 9th, 2016-23:11
And I was ( still am ) a fan of the grey dial, which I find really stunning. But the 5960A, if you remove this bloody grand father bracelet, and change it for a cool black leather one, is just a kind of Paul Newman ala Patek. Best, Nicolas
