 By: mkt33 : January 29th, 2014-19:00

 By: Spellbound : January 29th, 2014-20:58
Hi Mike, I realize I am breaking the rules somewhat since clearly this watch does not fall into the budget category. As you can see it is a masterpiece of horology, and a limited edition very rare edition from Danish Independent watchmaker Lego. Warmest, ...

Maintence costs

 By: mkt33 : January 31st, 2014-06:28

Here's what I do ...

 By: nilomis : January 31st, 2014-09:43

No Mike

 By: Geo : January 31st, 2014-11:58
under normal circumstances I doubt if it will develop like this The watch was worn for three months in the Death Sea area, but never in the sea. The problem is that the bezel does not move anymore now. GEO

Thanks...I didn't think it would develop such a nice patina

 By: mkt33 : January 31st, 2014-15:20
if the watch was worn more "in land". It makes sense that it was worn near the coast. Sorry to hear about the bezel though, hopefully an easy fix. Best, Mike

I always enjoy your ocean shots. How wonderful to enjoy a wrist instrument from your Father.

. . . that I've had more than a few years, Kevin - it might look fresh, but that's because this one doesn't get a whole lot of wrist time anymore. Kinda like Secretariat after his racing career was over ;-) . . .

Maggie's?

New Strap Art? Glad to see you enjoying your Father's watch still. Extra special.

So classic, Art.

It's funny how our fathers who did not think twice about their watches had the best taste in watches. Maybe we try too hard...

I would have thought this theme would have drawn at least one example out by now ! :-) We had such a PuristSPro craze a few years ago over these. Someone please tell me that it wasn't just a fad, that a PuristS still wears his/hers proudly! Mike

The hoopla lasted about three weeks, Mike . . .

 By: Dr No : February 2nd, 2014-10:45
. . . but for that brief period, it seemed the whole world was in on the craze. Bill bought a few, and I still have images of cazalea's on my hard drive . . . . . . from our Perpetually Purists party back in '08. Maybe they're too exotic for consideration...

Less than $100

Well, that's what it cost me back in 1979. From an ad at the back of Popular Science. And it was my "budget" at the time. And my first mechanical watch. That's a fair amount of bang for the buck. ...

What a great first buy...inflation is amazing :-)

Designed by the famous architect/product designer Michael Graves for Target department stores, this was purchased for a mere pittance but is well worth replacing the battery. HAGWE! ...

I'm assuming it is patterned after the old rotary phone. Is that patina from age? or was it sold in that way with a distressed finish? Best, Mike

There are some trench...

or half case style pocket watches with these type of cut outs. (Protect the crystal but keep it visible). Knowing Michael Graves' work, the rotary phone reference is certainly there too. The metal is unfortunately, a very cheap base metal that has patinat...
