Bigger isn't always better, is it?

Like bees I find myself drawn to flowers, and I realized this week it's the most prolific spring we've ever had. The flowers are big and beautiful. That leads to " how much bigger? how much brighter? how much better?"

Americans tend to see many things this way - "I can get an SUV for the same money and it's so much bigger!" and "why buy the bike my size when I can get that one with a larger frame" and of course watches ...

ANYHOW, to get to the point, I walked up and around the block looking for flowers smaller than a dime, which you can clearly see is less than 20mm (the width of a typical watch strap).

Here's what I found in an overgrown, unmown lawn:

a few feet away, another color

Three houses further up the block; two different kinds of yellow flowers

at the park, a yellow flower in front of a clover about to burst into blossom

Slightly more mature clover(s)

Tiny flowers on a big evergreen bush - something like Rosemary

Tiny red flowers and buds (seed pods?) on the adjacent big hedge-like bush

These are just about my dime-size limit

in my own front garden

Flowers looking like tiny raspberries

Delicate spiky flowers

And finally, breaking the tiny limit at 33mm,  I'll close with this pair of clusters.

Herein ends the ankle-height flower tour.

Macro or Micro depending on the brand...

One of my fav walk around lenses is the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro on full frame, in my case 5DII. Works close up as well as a tele and focuses like a champ in both modes. By now your neighbors must have noticed your tendency to walk around taking photos of ...

Is that SMELL or SELL?

Your observational skills are, as usual, nonpareil.

For comparison, here are some shots with my watch

Sorry for the glare; I nearly broke my wrist trying to get this photo ...

Blessed are those...
