“M.I.A.”…

(“Mate In Absentia”).
This forum has been single-handedly responsible for forging some great friendships, acquaintances and associations around the globe. Over the years it has been a privilege to break bread with like-minded enthusiasts in Switzerland, England, Italy, Croatia, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, Germany and, errrrrr, other places, and in those countries to meet people from any number of other countries. Thank you all for great times had and great times to be had. Ironically, though, the strongest of those relationships is much closer to home (although on the other side of this rather large island) – AndrewD.
This is the watch that started it all, and it is a story for another time. Suffice to say, though, that it also involves Amanico, Dje and aaronm – that watch did a lot of work in a short period of time!
(His watch, his wrist, his photo).
Ever since, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to have a great friendship with Andrew. It came as no surprise to learn that we have a number of watches in common (and many more in common on the wish lists!). We have been able to catch up a number of times in various restaurants in various cities, and hopefully that tradition will continue. Andrew ‘gets it’. He has exquisite taste in:
- watches;
- literature;
- gifts (!);
- food;
- wine;
- cars;
- gadgets;
- HiFi;
- art;
- furniture;
- music;
- cameras;
- clothes; and, most importantly,
- friends.
In fact, he will make someone a marvellous wife one day!
Andrew, you are sorely missed. All the best.
Cheers,
pplater.
