. . . the first one in '66, and then heavily thru the '70s and '80s, when they were a competitive team. Lots of memories - how could anyone forget John Ramsey announcing Manny Mota coming to the plate?
After the O'Malleys sold the team, though, they were never the same. In the last twenty years, it's doubtful I've been to twenty games. Maybe I changed; it's hard to say. I still followed them on TV, partly because their broadcaster is the best in the business, but after last season, when their broadcast contract was compromised in a dispute with a cable company, I just threw my hands up and barely took notice, even though they were having a terrific season.
I wish them the best, but as with the Raiders, the magic is long gone. I was at the game where Bob Welch . . .
. . . threw a no-hitter against the Braves. Dodger Stadium was rockin' that night - the ovation he received lasted for minutes on end.
Those were the days . . .
