And your great close up picture of one of the markers reminds me of an abstract painting!!
I had always felt that markers are the small but very important "touch" which adds lots to the personality of any timepiece.
I guess a good example is this little and humble Zenith watch from the mid forties: those unique indexes are the center of interest of an otherwise dull & low profile timepiece, and they made me fall in love with it as soon as I viewed it in the window of a vintage dealer.
I specially love the "12" hour marker which look so "art deco" to me!
