Honestly, I love cooking and eating good food, but I never understood people who need to take phone photos of their dishes in all places and post them online. That’s almost as obsessive as Selfies.
So let me take this week’s WS on food from a different angle. Let’s have a look at “Hamburger” watches.
Yes, Hamburger.
So what’s a Hamburger watch in my opinion? Well, it should have a round case, no rotating bezel or the like, relatively small diameter and THICKNESS, ideally with a domed crystal. I’d say starting with a ratio of 3:1 and lower between diameter and thickness. So, for example, a 38mm Chronograph with 13mm or more thickness is starting to look like a Hamburger.
I don’t have a very pronounced Hamburger watch in my collection, but my Chronograph GP 4946 comes closest to it. It’s 38mm in size, has a domed crystal across almost the entire diameter and is about 12.5mm think. It does have that classic look, almost like a “Hamburger”. J
