Often fun and subsequently pride for a collector is not only possessing a watch but is for me also the process of desiring a watch, searching for it, wrestling with oneself, finding it, acquiring it and then taking possession.
So I want to show one piece of my collection that surprised me all the way in every of the above steps.
Desiring it:
I love the shape, it has very clean lines and a timeless design. I love the way the strap width aligns perfectly with the dial width. It never though made it very high on my wish list, but see “struggling with myself”.
Searching for it:
I always have my eyes and ears open but I can’t say I have been on a desperate hunt for this GP. If at all, I more tended towards its sibling the mono-pusher chronograph 375mm. In addition, Ref 8052 is rarely seen.
Struggling with myself:
For this model I always had lots of concerns. Size: for some reason, I always thought this is going to be too small. It’s a perception you get when looking at catalogue photos only. Then there was the Ferrari connection that had me push it down my list. Finally, they seemed very costly and there are so many other candidates on my wish list.
Finding it:
When this model came up for sale, I did not hesitate and pulled the trigger right away. Reputable dealer, like new condition, full set and a very convincing offer. Luckily, it became available at a time I could fund it immediately.
Taking possession:
I was blown away when it arrived and I opened the box. First there was the size. I did not expect it to be that big. Not too big, just perfect. Then there was comfort and the condition really was like new.
Finally Pride and Fun:
Now I’m having this smirk all over my face, proud having found it, proud having acquired it and proud seeing it on my wrist.
HAGWE.
