Watch of the Week goes to . . .
Mar 09, 2014,16:57 PM
. . . sanro!
This was not the outcome I expected after initially reviewing the thread. WotW is different from the other categories in that it's supposed to be focused on the subject rather than the image. In other words, it's not the quality of the image that matters so much, but rather the nature of the watch.
There were several submissions that caught my attention. Respo's VC Overseas chronograph (US LE, right, respo?) was, amazingly enough, a watch I was considering for myself some time back. I remember trying it on along with a few other chronos, and being deeply impressed.
Marcus offered a smorgasbord of choices, of which one in particular . . .
. . . caught my attention. This genre isn't my usual cuppa tea, but the Dreadnought was one of the first of the breed, and I've long felt an admiration for the chiseled appearance of Eddie Platt's brainchild. I've tried one on once . . .
. . . but it's way too large for my wrist to even consider.
Forget the flair Patrice brought to our proceedings . . .
. . . but damn, that vintage Explorer is
way cool! A compelling watch, and one I've mulled over from time to time.
Top honors for me, though, go to Juan for his . . .
. . . Pam 80. Now, I'm even less a fan of OP than Rolex, never having quite gotten the mystique they hold for so many. But there's something about this one: not just the appearance, which I find pleasing, but also, the dead seconds complication. The fusion of aesthetics and technique strike me as exceptionally compelling, so I'm giving the nod to Juan for Watch of the Week.
