WOTW: Watch of the Week 16 Aug 2013
This week, your WOTW Judge had an extremely fraught time with the high quantity and quality of entries.
Even with the help of the PuristS Assistant Associate Judge, the task was not made easier.
Ignoring the photographic composition and technique, we 'focused' (sic) on the "wow" factor.
Which watch had horologic significance, interest and 'presence' to elicit a "Wow!" from an aficionado?
In the end, it boiled down to which watch was most "desired" and it was not the most costly nor complicated.
Assistant Associate PuristS Judge
Commended
For their rarity and classic elegant and clear dial designs
Breitling World Timer
Longines Conquest
This is my Static Watch reflections nominee.
Equal 2nd Places by a short head
2) Breguet Fusee Tourbillon has the "wow factor" and is available to anyone with the financial resources but the 'function over form' design is divisive.
2) Rolex Triple Calendar with Moon Phase for rarity, condition and glorious difference from the common or Garden variety of Rolex. This may be the most expensive runner-up in history!
As a Rolex, it has the "wow factor" but the Assistant Associate PuristS Judge pointed out that without the Rolex crown logo, it is simply a calendar watch with moon display from that era. She is a tough judge!
WINNER by a nose
1) Gronefeld One Hertz by Gary G would certainly be a welcomed WotW at any PuristS GTG.
