This was my father-in-law's watch when he was in the Military Police (RAF) fighting Communism in South-East Asia during the late 1950s. He was / is a big man and built like...er...a military policeman.
Then, man-size watches were 30mm diameter (without crown). This watch has survived a night-ops helicopter crash-landing in a mangrove swamp, a serious military road crash and countless bar brawls that MPs have to break-up.
The crown is not original. The winding stem was repaired in-the-field with a hammer after the car crash and I got it in a sorry state.
Manual winding mechanical movement.
I had it restored and gold-plated.
