Dad bought a '65 Dodge Dart GT in late '69 . . .

. . . for Mom. White two-door hardtop with red vinyl interior, four-barrel 273 c i engine, three-speed Torqueflite floor-shifted automatic. I learned how to drive in that car, and drove it occasionally. When it came time for my brother to go to college it ended up in his care. (I think Dad still owned the car to keep it on his insurance, but for all intents and purposes it was my brother's car.)
Even though I never actually owned it, I felt it was mine. When my brother was done with it, I would've taken it back and restored it, switching to a four-speed and higher gears to boot.
Then one day, while my brother was driving home from college on CA-58 thru central California, he ran into a deer coming down a mountainside, crashing the car off the highway. It just had new tires and brakes fitted, and in overall good condition. The front end was damaged to the point it was declared a total loss, so it got towed to a junkyard and never seen again by me.

KMII was moderating that weekend in May '18. The conversation shifted to racing, and I commented being at the first California 500 at Ontario Motor Speedway in 1970. I found a video on Youtube, which I posted in a reply to Abel. As I was scanning the clip . . .
. . . a scarcely believable object was sighted.
😳
Fast forward to 4' 15". That's our Dodge Dart GT in the parking lot.
I remembered parking next to a green MG TD and a camper, and seeing TV cameras nearby. I don't believe the three people seen walking were us, but if they were, that would be the ultimate proof of Andy Warhol's dictum.
I was telling this story to Bill Sohne a few weeks ago, and he was able to capture a screen shot of our Dodge.
Our Dodge Dart has probably gone to that Great Junkyard In The Sky, but at least I have this photo to remember it by.
