Hello dear Art! That´s a fantastic story about your Parents´ Dodge Dart and I remember that post. When you describe your car, it brings me fond memories of my own Dad´s car in around...

... 1964 or 65. Chrysler built the Dart here too but only in the 4 door configuration.
As Chrysler had a great previous experience a few years before selling the Valiant (two versions I and II) they decided to market the Dodge Dart as "Chrysler Valiant III". (Years later they launched a Valiant IV with same body and engine but changes in front grille and rear lights)
The car came as a four door sedan, powered with the famous "Slant Six" 3.8 liter engine with about 135 HP and a manual three speeds transmision with steering wheel shifter.
Here in my land it was a very large car (they called it "a boat") considering that most cars marketed here in those years were rather small and of European design (Fiat, Renault, Peugeot).
What makes a big coincidence is that our car was white with a red vinyl interior!! I really loved to drive that big car!!
Regret I have no pictures of that car but I found some shots in internet here. How nice Bill Sohne could get that picture from the video.
Have a nice weekend Art!
Cheers, Abel
