I suspect we all have a few of these. In my opinion budget does not always equal daily "beater" Nor does it always mean mechanical! The two above are examples that I love but not my favorite. So for Wristscan this week, please show us your most beloved bu...
Hi Mike, I realize I am breaking the rules somewhat since clearly this watch does not fall into the budget category. As you can see it is a masterpiece of horology, and a limited edition very rare edition from Danish Independent watchmaker Lego. Warmest, ...
... is mostly military issue. This one is uniquely powered by manual winding ETA2801, and actually one of the models used in the first Gulf War. But S&Y couldn't make as fast as the competitor to answer the demand by DOD, thus a lot were released to t...
Gulf Wars. These were never issued :-( Suprisingly what was issued was quartz, not mechanical. I'm going to have to seek one of these out. What is the coating? Thanks for the additional info. Mike

Team, Let me play. 1) Oris 200m 40mm. Got it for a song. Spent more on the maintenance than the watch. 2) My Seiko Orange. My go anywhere one. A great weekend to all, Nilo ...
I consider the Oris to be very discrete. It looks colorful because I took a picture this morning with our implacable summer Sun hitting it directly. Cheers, Nilo
My wife asked me why I would ever spend more money to fix one of my "budget" watches than it cost in the first place...especially one that was easily replaceable. I replied "memories" . Some of us remember events with photos I suspect most of us remember ...
First, I always deduct the maintenance cost for a full maintenance. Second, since I'm lucky to have a great watchmaker I try to keep him busy and I pay a little less than the average customer. Cheers Nilo
.. I find that watch quite interesting, never seen in the real - again a piece to put on the list for " must see".. Hmmm.... If I slowly start counting, elements of looking, browsing, hunting, laughing etc - one thing is for sure: ONE visit is rarely enou...

I like both, the uncluttered dial, and specifically the blued hand(s) - having said so, - no wonder you needed to get both... Continue to enjoy them in the best health ! Best, hs
under normal circumstances I doubt if it will develop like this The watch was worn for three months in the Death Sea area, but never in the sea. The problem is that the bezel does not move anymore now. GEO
if the watch was worn more "in land". It makes sense that it was worn near the coast. Sorry to hear about the bezel though, hopefully an easy fix. Best, Mike
Here is mine and I am in love with is, beautifully simple and elegant chronograph. It has a charming personality and the movement, olala;) Cheers and HAGWE Francois from Down Under ...
there is something magical and as my wife says "romantic" about these vintage watches that I am only now starting to really appreciate. Cheers Francois from Nice and Warm Down Under;)

Are between 33 and 35 mm, with todays standards - wearable by a lady! :) Have others that are 30 mm. Yes, they did make ladies versions, but they are between 20 and 23 mm... Best Blomman
For years I had been wanting one, and finally managed to find the right one last year. After a little TLC this is how it came out. Happy Weekend to all, Alex ...
seen from Sturling. Now they just need to remove the superfluous text crom the tourbillon ring. Just out of curiosty, what's the watch's diameter. The porthole looks large. BEst, Mike
be a brand that I thought would be the most represented on this week's thread. Your model looks like it can be the "swiss army knife" of the watch world...How many functions total? Cheers, Mike
Thanks for asking Mike! Cheers, -- Richard. Auto-LED light A light-emitting diode (LED) is used to illuminate the watch face, incl. the feature of an Auto Light Switch that illuminates the display when the watch is angled towards the face. Low-temperature...

... the one original of the watch, and it is not a GF one, but its design is obviously "inspired" by those old classic bracelets. I imagine this watch was made in the 1960/70´s and was in complete unused state. Thank you and kind regards, Abel.
What a nice change, Mike, to spot these much more humble and sometimes nonetheless very extraordinary watches! (Don´t look at Nicos contribution please and some others with Rolex or Eberhard :-)) As not all of us here can afford the 3k++ watches this is a...
Thanks, Mike, for making me think about it! I came up with this Fortis, because when I bought it, it marked the upper end of my budget. In the meantime it plays its role as a water- and everything-proof holiday beater. (However it would be wearing its sta...

I would have thought this theme would have drawn at least one example out by now ! :-) We had such a PuristSPro craze a few years ago over these. Someone please tell me that it wasn't just a fad, that a PuristS still wears his/hers proudly! Mike
. . . but for that brief period, it seemed the whole world was in on the craze. Bill bought a few, and I still have images of cazalea's on my hard drive . . . . . . from our Perpetually Purists party back in '08. Maybe they're too exotic for consideration...
Well, that's what it cost me back in 1979. From an ad at the back of Popular Science. And it was my "budget" at the time. And my first mechanical watch. That's a fair amount of bang for the buck. ...
