..Friends, as this weeks theme deals with the iconic film-and race-star,
and his life ingredients, we all shall present thereabout whatever we can find,
in photos, still & video/ film clips
Plus the watch, either we currently have on our wrists in this week, and/or
which maybe one he might have worn:
I'll start with the actor & racedriver: Steve got famous for his passion
for real racing, and fast cars.
- In fact, his intended start together with Jackie Stewart at the 24 hrs
in LeMans with the famous Porsche 917, was denied ,
but he was able to film racing sequences with a Porsche 908,
then used in his film Le Mans.
Most notable films were Bullitt, Getaway, and The Glorious Seven, and
The Thomas Crown Affair. The last being my absolute fav of his movies
- Cool all the way.
These films and his charisma made him famous and a sought after actor,
but also earned him respect & a huge fan community.
Along that fast lane of life he was also a fan of nice and sportive watches:
Actually 3 watches, AFAIK, are connected to him::
1/ the famous Tag Heuer Monaco, square Chronograph in blue, he was
also photographed with during his famous film Les Mans, where the
Swiss company equipped him and parts of the staff
with a set of Heuer Chronos, type Monaco.
2/ privately he was often seen with a Rolex Submariner , 5512 on his wrist,
piloting also smart and fast cars, or riding his motorbikes.
3/ the third watch is a sort of a bit weird, as we call the Rolex Ref 1655
Orange Hand, as " Steve McQueen", although not documented
for sure. Furthermore I don't know why actually so..
Given the topic by our dear Art, here first as an appetizer and
little starter dish, here a collage showing several occasions,
where Steve was wearing the Heuer Chronograph,
but also the Sub, when driving a private car, supposedly a Ford Mustang.
Anyway - for this "Uber" - King of Cool, racing and living in the fast lane,
both were passions.
Collage -1 : Steve Mc Queen - snaphots & epiphemalia
The photos also depict McQueen, in different role model aspects & pics
with that cool stardom, he had become famous and admired for.
Collage - 2: As I don't own a Submariner 5512, early enough, but at least a Submariner 5513, as from 1967,
I thus finally chose my Rolex Explorer, (gilt, CR from 1956), which is my watch du jour, and which might have been possibly worn by Steve.
Rolex 6610 (1956)
Wishing you all a great WE and will be further looking forward to your photos, videos,
of this kind of unique personality, filling every scene, but also situations, with
his full presence, intensively so..
Best & HAGWE,
