Big year of comings and goings for me
Dec 20, 2014,16:05 PM
Greetings to all! Have mostly been a lurker here of late but this topic has drawn me out of the shadows
Now that I look back on it, this has been a year of substantial transition in my collection, with some great additions and tough divestitures as well.
Here are the pieces that allowed me to broadcast "Incoming!" during 2014:
1. After a lifetime with no tourbillons in the mix, I seem to have gone tourb-crazy in 2014, starting with the Vianney Halter Deep Space
2. And then my first FP Journe, a lovely early Tourbillion Souveraine in PT with WG dial
3. And as long as I was on a Journe (and Tourbillon) tear, the T30 Anniversary Tourbillon
4. Not every piece has to be super-high-end! Time for a little fun with the Omega Bullhead Re-Edition
5. A late-year trip to Singapore and a wonderful time with watch pals including our own Horo led to the addition of my very first Breguet, the Ref. 7727 10 Hz
6. Finally, just a few weeks ago, I took the plunge with a brand I've been enthusiastic about for some time now:
Whew! All of these additions did not come without having to make some tough choices on collection consolidation, however.
First to go was my RG Datograph -- great watch indeed! But feeling a bit neglected in the presence of the Lange Double Split in my box.
Keeping with the chrono theme, I then sent my Habring Doppel 2.0 to its next loving home.
The fantastic Speake-Marin unique piece, Fighting Time, is also now in other hands...
...and finally, to enable the purchase of the Invention Piece 1, three stalwarts (including one recent acquisition!) had to go on the trading block:
Such are the ups and downs of collecting! Thanks for this Wristscan topic -- it was good to go back over the year and see just how much things changed on this end over the passage of the months.
Best,
Gary
