I have two
Oct 23, 2014,20:03 PM
If I died tomorrow, I told my family these two pieces are the last to sell. Not because of dollar value but because these represent the essence of me and my collecting style. Strangely, the VC was the first one I collected. When I first saw a picture on launch, I loved the look. But my head was just wrapped around the fact that a perp chrono should be a Patek. Second, I just figured there was no way to land a one of 50. Then my dealer called and said please come down. I have something to show you. I knew I had to figure a way to fund it. And in the end this watch had all the elements I loved. I look at it as a gift of luck. The Lange was a piece I never saw in person. And I loved it for over four years, never seeing one, but this piece combined the romance and engineering sides of me. Then one Saturday, I found one for sale. It was priced well. I asked for some photos to see the condition. I decided to gamble as I did not know the dealer. I emailed him that I would take the watch. He said it had been sold 30 minutes earlier. It took me another six months and then two came available. One was just priced ridiculous. The other higher than market but not crazy. And to buy it I had to for the first time, and currently only time, trade one of my pieces. As I have posted before, when it came to my office I had to lock myself in th bathroom, as I was so overwhelmed.
Sorry for long story. Thanks for an interesting thread. Hagwe
