... but my guess is:
- it takes time, expenses, to have each watch certified for Chronometer (just for the paper that says so)
- realizing that it is accuracy and reliability that consumers want, NOT the paper, some manufacturers have started their own testing that supposedly better chronometer test (SEIKO, PP, Lange come to mind, to name a few).
"Chronometer" is certainly an easy way to distinguish from non-Chronometer watches. But some may think that they can do better
